BookBub Listing Guidelines

BookBub is an "advertorial" newsletter, which means that although it consists of paid advertisements, only those that our editorial team feels are the best deals for our subscribers are selected to be featured in the email.

At minimum, your listing should meet the following guidelines to be considered:

Free or Deep Discounts:

BookBub features books that are either free or discounted by at least 50%. It's rare for us to feature books with a deal price of more than $2.99, and the greater the discount, the more likely we are to accept a listing.

Top Quality Content:

BookBub promotes books and authors that have received substantial positive acclaim. We use a variety of sources to evaluate the quality of each listing and ensure it meets the standards our subscribers expect. While our editorial team does consider customer reviews when deciding whether or not to accept a listing, there is no specific "minimum requirement," and reviews are only one factor out of many that we consider.

Best Deals Available:

BookBub features the best eBook deals available. We do not feature a deal if a better price has recently been offered or is likely to be offered in the future on the same book. If a book has recently been offered for free, or may be free in the near future, we generally cannot accept a listing that asks our members to pay for that title.

Professional Presentation:

BookBub promotes books with high-quality cover designs and professional formatting. We do not feature books that may elicit complaints from readers about technical issues, including excessive typos and grammatical errors.

Diverse Authors and Offerings:

In order to maintain a diverse member experience, BookBub will not feature the same book more than once every 120 days, or once every 90 days if targeting a different category. Nor will we feature the same author more than once every 30 days.

Limited Time Offers:

BookBub promotes books that are discounted for a limited time, usually not much longer than a week. We generally do not accept listings for deals that are always available. We make exceptions for permafree books on a case-by-case basis.

Full-Length Books:

BookBub promotes full-length works, so we do not typically accept listings for books under 150 pages (or roughly 50,000 words). For collections from a single author, we generally require that at least two of the books contained in the set are full-length works.

Widespread Availability:

We only feature deals that are available at one or more of the major retailers where BookBub's members buy eBooks. We also recommend that an author feature their book on as many of the major retailers as possible during a promotion, in order to reach the maximum number of our subscribers.

Appropriate Targeting:

BookBub promotes books that fit into our member interest categories. We don't accept listings outside these selections, although we are continually adding new categories. If our editorial team believes your book would be a better fit for another category, we will let you know. Our editors have a strong sense of what our subscribers respond well to within each category (which may not always correspond with the traditional genre distinctions).

However, please note that even if your deal meets all of these qualifications, that does not guarantee that it will be selected for a listing slot. Due to the large number of submissions we receive, we unfortunately aren't able to feature every book we would like to include. As such, our editorial team looks for deals that we believe will perform well with our readers, given what we know about their interests and reading habits. It's possible that while your title meets all our guidelines, it simply isn't a good fit for our subscribers. If your book is not selected for a BookBub listing, this is by no means a comment on the quality of your work. Rather, we want to ensure that each spot is an appealing offer for our particular audience, and a successful promotion for our valued author and publisher partners. If your listing is not approved and you would like to resubmit your book for consideration in the future, please wait at least 4 weeks before doing so.
