Discovering a new romance is like unwrapping a gift that you didn’t ask for, but suddenly can’t live without. It was like that for me when I first discovered authors like Sarah Dessen and Jenny Han as a preteen. It’s hard to pinpoint just what makes this genre so special, but on any unreasonably cold night, a rom-com is better than the heat my Boston apartment can barely provide.
