About the position

We are seeking a talented analyst to join our team. As a member of our Analytics team, you will provide analytical support and thought partnership to stakeholders throughout the business as we work to expand our user base, accelerate revenue growth and improve our products and services. You will share knowledge and experience with other analysts as we continue developing a world-class analytics function.

The analytics team is working on:

  • Becoming experts in BookBub’s data, to guide decisions and improve business performance
  • Creating dashboards, reports and analytical processes to keep us on course and track our progress
  • Developing in LookML, Looker’s data modeling language, to build and maintain BookBub’s reporting infrastructure
  • Helping to design experiments to test product changes and marketing campaigns, then analyzing the results to inform decision making
  • Collaborating with Product, Business Development, Marketing and Engineering teams to pursue growth objectives and optimize the business

Ideal candidates for this position will have:

  • 1-4 years experience in an analyst role
  • A business mindset — the ability to ramp up on how the business works, and use that knowledge to guide metric creation, goal setting, and strategy
  • Strong SQL skills — the ability to write queries that answer key stakeholder questions, and serve as inputs for reporting
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI). Experience with LookML is a plus!
  • Comfort with experiment design, statistical testing and analysis
  • Excellent critical thinking skills — adept at deconstructing complex problems to identify the analytically addressable questions
  • Strong communication skills that enable you to work as a thought partner and break down complex topics, to help teammates better understand and pursue their objectives

Remote work flexibility

Please note: for this role, we are considering remote candidates who are located in the following states: MA, NY, RI, ME, PA, MD, and IL. Other locations to be reviewed upon request. 

Our team has choose-where-you-work flexibility that allows you to choose a predominantly remote, hybrid, or in-office setup at our Cambridge, Massachusetts office. We’ll help each team member figure out the work set up that’s best for them, including WFH equipment or a dedicated desk space in our office. We value the health and safety of our people above all else, and our in-person work options will remain contingent on local safety guidelines and recommendations.

Most of our teams currently operate with a hybrid model, with some people working full- or part-time from the office, and some from home. We value and prioritize collaboration across mediums and spaces, and we invest in ensuring that meetings and other forms of collaboration are set up with equal access regardless of where you work.

Our typical process includes these types of experiences:

  • A resume screen and introductory phone/video chat
  • Conversations with your potential future team members, the hiring manager, and People Operations
  • A take-home exercise where you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical and communication skills
